Dr. Cortina Louis Owner & CEO

A note from the Owner/CEO

Hello and welcome to The NOIR Center for Intuitive Healing & Counseling. A place where Afrocentric roots meet the luxury of mental and emotional wellness. I am so excited that you decided to browse our page. As the founder of The NOIR Center, it is my responsibility to ensure that you are able to access the healing you desire. Thank you for trusting us with your story. We honor your journey, celebrate your growth, and support your healing. I am dedicated to and passionate about creating emotionally safe spaces where black, brown, and marginalized populations are free to be themselves. In an attempt to decolonize and destigmatize what it means to go to therapy, I focus on social injustices and race-related issues that impact mental health and wellness. I further promote sex positivity, pleasure activism, finding your passion and purpose, and the importance of becoming one with your body.

If you’re looking for a healing space free of judgment, culturally responsive, nontraditional, and incorporates the mind, body, and spirit, The NOIR Center is ready to walk with you on your journey towards emotional and mental wellness. Just know it's different here.

I invite you to join The NOIR movement and family.

"An out-of-the-box therapeutic experience."

Here at The NOIR Center, we have a dynamic group of trained and experienced therapists. All our therapists lead with their therapeutic style which accentuates the way they show up in the therapeutic space. By doing this, clients can participate in the selection process of identifying and working with the therapist that best fits their needs. Finding the right therapist is a highly personal decision, and you’ll want to find someone who feels like a good match.

Find a therapist worthy of your trust!

La Tanya D. Walker “The Live Authentic Therapist” Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern "Healing doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.  It means the damage no longer controls our lives." -Unknown As your mental health advocate, you will find that I am just an ordinary girl with an extraordinary story of faith, perseverance, and triumph, one that forced me to give up being perfect, for being authentically me. I believe we were all created to fulfill a unique purpose in life; one that often gets in the way with masks of fear, failure, hurt, offense, guilt, shame, unforgiveness, and abuse, to name a few. So, know that I don't take your mental health lightly and am passionate about helping you reach and maintain a level of authenticity that is only found with introspection, dedication, and hard work – with the end-result, a life that is healthy, healed, and whole. One core belief I stand on is AUTHENTICITY! Authenticity is not compromising your values or your worth for the sake of pleasing others.  It is looking yourself dab smack in the eyes, noticing your flaws, yet realizing, that flaws and all, you are wonderfully made.  However, being authentically you doesn't come without work.  I've mastered it and am here to help you do the same. I am a Graduate Intern at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and a Board Certified Christian Counselor with almost 10 years’ experience counseling women, couples, and teen girls. My counseling philosophy is guided by a Christian worldview, integrating biblical principles as agreed upon by you. That simply means, I won't impose my Christian values/beliefs on you during our sessions without your permission. I often use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Person Centered Counseling, along with CBT and SFBT; all of which share the belief that the individual has within him or herself, resources to change their perception or understanding of themselves and the world…so, if you're ready to shed your mask(s) and LIVE AUTHENTICALLY YOU, let's connect, I am here for you.
